I'm sorry, he paused the Werewolves Of London instrumental for 10 seconds, the pressed play again...
This sounds like a Republican justifying why Sarah Palin is qualified to be president.
It's a good analogy too, because a Sarah Palin supporter is likely a Kid Rock fan...
Still, being a "piece of Americana," does nothing to make his music less shitty.
But shitty is subjective. That sounds Republican, basing value on subjectivity.
Pausing ten seconds is more than the Beasties did, sing Mississippi Queen along with Looking down the barrel of a gun once.
You don't like Kid Rock, that's fine. But calling him worthless is silly. He's selling discs like hotcakes. And it's not to the Brittany Spears fan club. So who's buying them? I'm betting it's the same people buying Eminem CDs.

"Shitty" is subjective to a degree, but me thinks that you would have a tough time finding a serious music critic that has anything nice to say about Kid Rock. Of course, music critics can be wrong, but I tend to think they have a better "ear" than the general public.
Selling a lot means absolutely nothing. I could put together a list of 100 artists who sell a ton of records, all of whom you would classify as garbage.
It's not Eminem fans buying Kid rock albums, well, there may be some crossover, but not a ton. It's more likely that it is the Confederate Flag waving, pick-up truck driving, wife-beating crowd that likes to tune in Kid Rock after they drink a bottle of Southern Comfort.

"Serious music critic" is more subjectivity. He's been nominated for 5 Grammys. But I'm certain you'll say those music critics aren't serious music critics.
It is Eminem fans buying Kid Rock albums, they're usually Kid Rock fans too, at least in my experience. They are not as politically aware as you and subsequently not able to judge his musical ability by his political affiliations. Admit it, you don't like him because he's an outspoken Republican.
His band is a list of some of the best and most original and inventive musicians in post 2000 music (not saying a whole lot, I know). If you're a fan of Eminem then it can't be the ignorant lyrics offending you. So that doesn't leave much besides the fact that he campaigned for Bush in '04.
You can't live your life that way, man. You'll burn up by the time you're my age. They are not the enemy, we are Americans first.

I had no idea that Kid Rock was a republican, true story. But that does add to his "shittiness."
And no, I'm not impressed with grammy nominations.
"His band is a list of some of the best and most original and inventive musicians in post 2000 music....'
No offense Poe, but I don't think you are very knowledgable on post 2000 music. The "best and most original" musicians of this era are people you've never heard of.
As for the Eminem comparison... Just search "Kid Rock" on Amazon and see the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section...
For Kid Rock's latest album, he are the people that come up under "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought"
Uncle Cracker Nickelback Lynyrd Skynyrd Bon Jovi Poison 3 Doors Down Tim McGraw Alan Jackson Linkin Park (and various other shitty bands)

Eminem hasn't had a major release in some time. Uncle Kracker is one of those members of the Brown Trucker Band, that's why he comes up.
There is a distinct possibility that I don't know of a lot of post 2000 musicians, that is true. I haven't heard much that would inspire me to look for them. On the other hand, I have friends who are in the know. They, like me, are hoping the next decade is better because this one sucked bad. The eighties had more to offer music.
Kid Rock is a republican who desires to be accepted as a Republican. He campaigned hard for Bush in '04, too bad it didn't have a bigger impact. That's again that trailer park mentality of shucking deeper thought in favor of catchy slogans like "support the troops." I find his mentality and intellectualism to be right on par with the average republican. That's part of his appeal.

Go to amazon.com and view Devil Without A Cause or Cocky and run the same test. For Cocky, The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show are on the second page.

We've had this discussion before...
You're referring to POPULAR music, and yes, popular music has sucked for over a decade.
I promise you, this guy is one of many from the past decade that are on par with any musician of the last 60 years. He's just the only one that the music industry allowed to have mainstream success.

The White Stripes are an exception, there are some. But we had a serious departure from the myriad of outstanding musicians of the 90's. Remember, I'm a child of the 80's, I'm not claiming my generation was the end all be all.
The music industry isn't some consortium deciding what does and what doesn't get air time. It's decided by what's selling. Money outweighs everything. The 90's are proof of that. I highly doubt a consortium would freely choose Nirvana, Alice In Chains and The Red Hot Chili Peppers if they had a choice. Natasha Beddingfield would suit them much better.

Exactly, money determines what is popular. The point is, the record labels figured out how to maximize profits. Talented song writers and musicians are too much trouble. It's much easier to pre-package a bunch of pretty faces.
If Pink Floyd were to put out their debut album in 2010, you'd never hear about them.

Pink Floyd is music from my generation. I absolutely admit I'm predjudiced, but I think my gen. had the best music. Prove me wrong.
He has serious vocal talent, and can write great music. Jackson and George Strait are two artists as well-suited for the 50's as they are for right now.

I think he was only listing who came up as 'customers who bought this also bought' not comparing the two.
I like some country, old country mostly. I don't really like Alan Jackson much though. IMHO that's girly music meant to impress young ladies more than make good music. I like a couple George Strait songs.
I like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Bill Anderson, Faron Young, Johnny Horton, Earnest Tubbs: that kind of country. In the era of Jackson and Strait I like Travis Tritt and Ricky Scaggs, mostly Bluegrass types. And, of course, Charlie Daniels.

I like Strait and Jackson, but the older country is the best, I agree. Old possum-Geoge Jones is hard to beat. Country is much better today than it was in the 70s and 80s for sure. Too many corney songs with awful lyrics. Such as: "If I catch you cheatin' around on me again, I'll kill you little darlin'". Whispering Bill Anderson had a song with the lyrics, "you don't know the pattern of my mind because my mind it has no pattern." Many of the current country artists today have actually got talent. Good riddance to crap such as Convoy and Give me 40 acres and I'll turn this rig around.
