 So..does the world end that day?...not that I'm a alarmist..but I do find it interesting that two groups of people a world away both come up with that date.

I don't think that the world will end, but something like a solar storm or a magnetic pole shift is possible..then.. or at some other time..

Take a good look at what happens when electricity is cut off for 3 or 4 days...or a week...if you are in a city...looting...riots...

Most people will wither and die without Micky D's or pizza hut to provide food...fewer still would know what plants can be used for healing or food for that matter..

 Our hubris will kill us off....

I sure hope it doesn't end. I have alot of life to live and my kids are so young.

The movie 2012 was pretty scary.....

I don't think anyone could prepare enough for cataclysmic, end of the world events such as the movie 2012.

The end has been predicted by many over many centuries.  I believe it will end when it ends.  Who knows?

The evidence they've come up with now, is that the Earth, the Sun, and a Black Hole will all align on that day.  I'm thinking either a polar shift, or a major change in the weather.  If there is a polar shift, I recommend buying beach front property in Alaska, you'll make a killing!   laugh

A polar shift, not a reversal, you callous bastitch!  Watch the history channel sometime, or hell read up on it.  The Mayans were far from stupid for such a primitive culture.  Their calender is quite amazing if you'd actually research it with an open mind...

I read enough.  More stuff and nonsense.  Conjecture isn't science.

A shift?  You mean the polar drift?  That's happening now as it has always been.  The poles cannot suddenly shift from one place to another without something causing it.  The destruction of the moon would do it.  Hell, just enough of a shifting of the moon would cause some major chaos with the earth's ecosystem.

The poles aren't barber shop poles like in the cartoons, you know. Smiley  They can't just hop from one spot to another.  To change polarity of a spinning globe there would have to be an electromagnetic explanation.  Sorry, but I'm not buying hokey Mayan pseudo-math as an explanation.

i would not call them idiots knowing the plants aliment and how the seasons change is a great accomplishment . Farming for one , that kind of understanding will help but the date its self 2012 is picked out by them and others due to the aliment of planets that will happen on that date , an understanding of how the stars move will get you that .  Life will go on , we are more in danger of what we are doing to the earth than any other factor . we humans are more of a threat to the earth than anything else .

and as far as the calendar  round , it does not stop on 2012 , it recycles again .
