I doubt anyone is for illegal immigration.  My problem is with this new law in AZ.  I'm sure the citizens there are tired of all the border crossers, but that doesn't mean a bad law is any better than no law at all.  McCain has flip-flopped on this issue, and as soon as agricultural interests start complaining about their workers being harassed and kept from their farms, he'll jump back to where he was to begin with.  No one state can do this alone.  This law is bad because it puts too much power in the hands of police.  Arizona should get their Representatives and Senators to craft a law that makes more sense.  The way it is in Congress now though, I doubt if anyone can get anything passed.  Perhaps bipartisanship will happen one of these days.

That Law is rediculous and way over the top. I live in a boarder State, yes the situation is out of control...but this is not the solution.

You can't require Federal Immigration status to be imposed upon local law enforcement, Nor can you expect local law enforcement to be even-handed with laws that are not under jurisdiction of their courts.

They are creating a monster, and opening a slew of 'can-of-worms'.

It is doomed to fail...no matter that the intent is something I agree with.

We can't 'bull-rush' this issue.

It's the 14th amendment that needs to be corrected.

 The 14th Amendment defines citizenship this way: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

Just because someone has kids on US soil should not make the child a citizen. Especially if they are born to illegal immigrants.

 That is the biggest road-block...how can we deport Illegal parents who have say 6 kids?...we can't. So not only do we collectively pay for thier children?...we can't deport the illegal parents and 'orphan' thier kids.

KID'S THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE CITIZENSHIP IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Not much time here, but I live in a boarder State so let me try to make some sense.

*****Let's say Jose and Maria sneak across the border and have 6 kids. They go to work at a meat-packing plant (working under the table with no documentation) and thier 6 kids (who are US Citizens because they were born on US soil) attend elementary school in Fresno.  [Look at this example, thier 6 kid's, who are now legal citizens, are attending Fresno schools, as thier Illegal parents are paying NOTHING in taxes]******

Immigration raids the meat packing plant...what do we do with 'Jose and Maria'?. If thier kids wern't citizens?---BOUNCE THE WHOLE DIRTY FAMILY.

But NO, wait...because thier children that were born (under an umbrella of illegality) are protected as US Citizens?.... now we have to deal with 6 kids and such.

STOP IT--make a simple change in the 14th Amendment.  I can't believe politicos are that stupid.

It's a step in the right direction damn-it.

To rieterate---- Mom and Dad broke the law and crossed the border illegally.

Why are thier children US Citizens because the 14th archaic Amendment says that those born to our soil are Citizens.

This Amendment makes NO sense and needs to be changed.

But that is completely beside the point.  We aren't talking about Africans here, we're talking about Hispanics.

Your just talking babble and quoting famous Politicians....you are offering no thought nor anything near a solution.

You either have no idea of the scope of the problem, or don't give a damn, or are not smart enough to offer more than quotes from dead Presidents.

Come-up with a reasonable solution to a problem...Not your typical babble about the History of the World, nor 'CK's' 'cut-copy-paste', nor how some poster is a liar (in your...ahem, opinion).


Come-up with something original and problem solving...or post in the Fantasy BB section please.

what happen is Air is a result of the feudal government not taking action and coming up with a solution to our on going influx of illegals , more and more states will start passing laws until something is done . we have had this serious problem since the 80s . Why are they not going after those who hire them and there should be stiffer laws for those who comment violent crimes who are not citizens . [ Rape, murder, ect ] it should be at least double of what that state will do to a citizen .

The reason it (immigration laws) are never passed is because big agri-businesses are dependent on illegal immigrant labor.  If all the businesses that employed illegals had to pay real American-citizen wages, they would go broke in days.  Let's face the facts....our biggest reason so many are coming across the border is not for drugs, not for crime, not for medical care and education, it's for jobs and money.  The other things come because they are here.  What sensible American will do the work that an illegal will do for so little money?  There are a few migrant workers down in Florida still being exploited by bullies, er, I mean contractors, who pay with chits to the company store and housing in company owned shacks.  If we kicked-out all the illegals the price for almost everything we eat would double.  We have a problem and it's not right to blame the aliens.  It's pure greed and an economy dependent on cheap labor.  States trying to do it alone are only kidding themselves.  We need to stop blaming the illegals and put the blame where it belongs-US.

Technically, though it's never been done as far as I know, you could try them in war crimes court as an insurrectionist.  It's not that far fetched.  They came into a country illegally with the intent to commit acts of terrorism against the citizens of that country.  Since terrorism doesn't really require a goal or a motive above causing panic, it's not so far fetched.

But really, no one has an interest in stopping it, that's why it hasn't been curbed.  The Democrats are willing to look the other way and the Republicans will go to war to save their cheap, illegal workforces.  George Bush all but told the country to give it up and let it go.  He said Americans don't want the jobs illegals are currently working so leave them alone.  This is a hideous position to take, it's modern slavery.  But that's a lot of what is happening.

The other thing is Washington acts based on support.  There exist LARGE lobbies against acting to secure the borders that are WELL funded by the drug cartels.

What do you call a lawyer once they've lost ALL their morals?   A lobbyist.
